Battery Status Checker
Check your laptop or tablet's battery level, charging status and time to full or empty live in your browser — using the Battery Status API. Free and private.
What is the Battery Status Checker?
A Battery Status Checker reads your device's current battery state via the browser. Toollyz Battery Status Checker uses the Battery Status API to show your battery level as a live percentage, whether you're currently charging, and the estimated time until full (when charging) or until empty (when discharging). The hero updates live as your charging state changes — plug or unplug your charger and watch the numbers move. The Battery Status API is implemented in Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, Arc); Firefox and Safari have removed it for privacy, and the tool shows a clear notice in those browsers. Nothing is uploaded — everything is read directly in your tab.
How to use it
- Open the tool — your battery level and charging state load instantly.
- Watch the percentage and time-remaining update live as your charging state changes.
- Plug or unplug the charger to see “time to full” and “time remaining” switch.
- Use it as a quick reference while working, or to verify your battery is charging.

Frequently asked questions
How does this read my battery?
It uses the browser's Battery Status API (navigator.getBattery), which reports the battery level, charging state, time to full and time remaining. Everything is read locally — Toollyz has no server.
Why is it showing “not available” in my browser?
Firefox and Safari no longer expose the Battery Status API to protect against fingerprinting. The tool works in Chromium-based browsers — Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, Arc — on devices with a battery.
Why does “time remaining” say “Calculating…”?
The browser sometimes reports Infinity for time-to-full or time-remaining when it can't estimate yet (right after plugging or unplugging). Wait a moment and the number will appear.
Does it update live when I plug or unplug the charger?
Yes. The tool listens for the levelchange, chargingchange, chargingtimechange and dischargingtimechange events, so the display updates immediately as your charging state and level change.
Does it work on a desktop without a battery?
It will report 100% and “charging” (the desktop never runs on battery). The tool is most useful on laptops, tablets and phones that actually have a battery.
Does this affect my battery life?
No. It only reads the battery state your browser already exposes; it doesn't keep anything running in the background and there's no extra polling beyond the browser's own events.
Is the data sent anywhere?
No. Toollyz has no server — the battery info is read in your browser and never uploaded. Close the tab and nothing remains.
Why doesn't it show battery health or cycle count?
Browsers only expose the current level, charging state and time estimates. They deliberately don't expose battery health, cycle count or hardware model — those require OS-level access.
Does it work on mobile?
On mobile browsers that implement the Battery Status API (typically Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers on Android), yes. iOS Safari does not expose it.
Is this battery checker free?
Completely free with no signup. The level, charging state and time estimates are all available to everyone, privately in your browser.
