What is the Drag Click Test?

Drag clicking in games like Minecraft uses friction between your finger and a specific mouse-button shape to produce dozens of clicks per drag — it's a hardware technique that can't be replicated 1-to-1 in a browser. Toollyz Drag Click Test is an honest approximation: it counts every pointer-down event that arrives while the cursor is in motion (defined as ≥ 4 px of cumulative movement in the last 220 ms) and rejects clicks that arrive while the cursor is stationary. Pick a duration (1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds), click and drag on the target — the first pointer-down arms the test, subsequent ones contribute to the count if you're moving, otherwise they land in the rejected counter. Live CPS, time remaining, the best score for the chosen duration and a 30-run history all surface in the UI. Toollyz is up-front that this is not a hardware drag-click detector; it's the closest the browser can get with Pointer Events.

How to use it

  1. Pick a duration (1 / 5 / 10 / 30 / 60 seconds).
  2. Press the target with the mouse to arm — the first pointer-down begins the timer.
  3. Keep clicking while you drag the cursor across the target — non-moving clicks land in the rejected counter.
  4. When the timer runs out the result is saved to the History list with per-duration best surfaced in the hero.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real drag-click detector?

No. Real drag clicking depends on the physical mouse hardware (a sharp mouse-button edge plus friction tape) and the OS interpreting the resulting chatter as separate clicks. Browsers see only the click events the OS forwards. Toollyz approximates the technique by counting pointer-down events that arrive while the cursor is in motion — a useful warmup, not a hardware benchmark.

What counts as moving?

≥ 4 px of cumulative pointer movement in the last 220 ms before the click. If you click while the cursor is stationary, the click lands in the rejected counter (visible in the hero) rather than the score.

Why is my rejected count high?

Either you stopped moving mid-drag (the cursor needs continuous motion) or your hardware is producing chatter-clicks the browser can't space out. Try moving more steadily and clicking only while the cursor is travelling.

Does it work on touch?

Yes — Pointer Events unify mouse, trackpad, touch and stylus. On a phone, swipe across the target while tapping rapidly. Touchscreen drag-click is naturally lower than mouse drag-click.

How does this compare to the CPS Test?

The CPS Test counts every discrete click without checking for movement — a pure clicks-per-second benchmark. The Drag Click Test only counts clicks during movement, modelling the gaming technique. Most people score lower on Drag Click than on CPS for the same duration.

Will autoclickers be detected?

No — the tool counts browser click events and doesn't try to distinguish autoclicks from human ones. If you're testing for a game or benchmark with rules, this is between you and the judge.

Why does the page disable scroll on the target?

`touch-action: none` on the target prevents your finger swipes from scrolling the page on mobile, so every drag stays on the target.

What's a good score?

There's no universal benchmark because real drag-click rates depend on hardware. In-browser, anywhere from 12 to 30 CPS in a 5-second window is impressive for human input. Don't chase 100 CPS scores from autoclickers.

Is my history saved?

Yes — the 30 most recent runs save to localStorage on this device only. Toollyz has no backend; nothing is uploaded or shared.
