What is the CPS Test (Clicks Per Second)?

A CPS test measures how many times you can click a target in a fixed time window. Toollyz CPS Test runs entirely in your browser using a `requestAnimationFrame` countdown that starts the moment you click the big target button. Pick a window (1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds), click as fast as you can and watch the live count, live CPS (events ÷ seconds elapsed) and time remaining update in real time. When the timer hits zero the final CPS is recorded in a 30-run history alongside its duration and timestamp; the best CPS for the current duration surfaces in the hero so you always know what to beat. Each click on the target button dispatches a single `click` event — autoclickers obviously work but that's between you and the rules of whatever game or benchmark you're warming up for. Toollyz has no backend, so every click stays on your device.

How to use it

  1. Pick a duration (1 / 5 / 10 / 30 / 60 seconds).
  2. Click the big target — the timer begins on the first click.
  3. Keep clicking; the live count, CPS and time remaining update each frame.
  4. When time runs out, the result lands in the History list with the per-duration best surfaced in the hero.

Frequently asked questions

What's a good CPS?

For a 10-second test on a regular mouse, 6–8 CPS is solid; 10+ is excellent; 15+ usually means jitter clicking or butterfly clicking (rapid alternating fingers). Top performers reach 20+ CPS for short bursts. Don't compare to autoclicker scores; those don't reflect human speed.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes — the big target button is touch-friendly and each tap counts as a click. Touchscreen CPS is naturally lower than mouse CPS; the test doesn't differentiate.

Why does the timer start with the first click?

Auto-start removes the "3, 2, 1, go" overhead so your reaction time doesn't taint the result. The first click begins the timer; subsequent clicks contribute to the count.

Is autoclicking detected?

No. The tool counts every browser `click` event regardless of how it was generated. If you're testing for a game or benchmark with rules, this is between you and the judge.

What's the difference between this and the Drag Click Test?

CPS counts discrete clicks (mousedown + mouseup pairs). The Drag Click Test counts mousedown events that occur while the cursor is moving — it's a different mouse technique aimed at gaming benchmarks (notably Minecraft PvP). Toollyz Drag Click Test is honest about the fact it approximates the technique through Pointer Events.

Why are the numbers showing decimals?

CPS is a rate (events per second), so it's reported with two decimal places (e.g. 7.42 CPS = 74 clicks in 10 seconds). The total click count itself is always a whole number.

Is the test fair across browsers?

Mostly. Event dispatch is fast enough that browser differences are within a few percent for human-scale tests. Some browsers throttle background tabs aggressively, so keep this tab focused for the most accurate result.

Will rapid clicks ever be missed?

Browsers can throttle very fast click sequences (often above ~25 events/second), so extreme autoclicker rates may report lower than the underlying hardware. For human speeds (≤20 CPS) every click is registered.

Is my history shared?

No. History is saved only in your browser's localStorage. Toollyz has no backend — nothing is uploaded, nothing is shared across devices.
