What is the Alarm Clock?

An online alarm clock fires a tone (and optionally a desktop notification) at a chosen time. Toollyz Alarm Clock runs entirely in your browser using a 1 Hz tick that checks every alarm against the current time. Set as many alarms as you need; each has a 24-hour HH:MM time, a label, an enabled toggle, a repeat schedule (Once, Every day, Weekdays, Weekends or Custom with a per-day bitmask) and a tone — Bell (warm decay), Chime (three-note ascending C-E-G), Beep (two-tone alarm) or Buzz (low pulse) — all synthesised live with WebAudio so there are no audio files and no licensing concerns. When an alarm fires you can snooze for 5 or 10 minutes (creates a one-off alarm in the future) or stop it. Granting browser notification permission lets the alarm pop up an OS notification when it rings — useful for muted tabs. Crucially, browsers can't fire alarms when the page is closed, so Toollyz is honest about this in the UI: keep the tab open. The Toollyz Alarm Clock has no backend; alarms save to localStorage on this device only.

How to use it

  1. Click + Alarm to add one. Set its time, label, enable toggle, repeat schedule and tone.
  2. (Optional) Click Enable notifications in the clock to let your browser pop up desktop alerts.
  3. Keep the tab open — when an alarm hits, a banner appears and the tone plays.
  4. Hit Stop to silence, or + 5 min / + 10 min to snooze; the alarm is rescheduled as a one-off.

Frequently asked questions

Does the alarm ring if I close the tab?

No. Browsers don't run JavaScript in a closed tab, and Toollyz has no backend to fire a server-side push. Keep the tab open (pinning it is a good workaround) so the JS interval can detect the firing time.

What happens if my computer is asleep when an alarm should fire?

While asleep, the JS interval doesn't run, so the alarm is missed. When the system wakes, Toollyz checks against the last 30 seconds and will still fire a recently-due alarm if you wake quickly. For mission-critical wake-ups, use your OS or phone alarm app instead.

Are the tones audio files?

No — they're synthesised live with the WebAudio API. The Bell is a 660 Hz + 880 Hz sine pair with a 1.4 s decay; Chime is a C5-E5-G5 sine arpeggio; Beep alternates 1200 Hz and 600 Hz sawtooth pulses; Buzz is a 220 Hz square pulse. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is licensed.

How does snooze work?

Snooze creates a new one-off alarm 5 or 10 minutes from now with the same label (suffixed "(snooze)") and tone, and stops the current ring. The original alarm's schedule isn't touched, so a daily 07:00 alarm keeps repeating tomorrow even if you snooze today.

Can I customise which days an alarm repeats?

Yes — pick "Custom…" as the repeat option and toggle the day buttons (Sun, Mon, …, Sat). The alarm fires on whichever days are enabled in the bitmask.

Do desktop notifications need permission?

Yes — modern browsers ask the user for permission to show notifications. Toollyz exposes an "Enable notifications" button in the clock header that calls `Notification.requestPermission()`. You can revoke at any time in browser settings.

Can I test a tone without setting an alarm?

Yes — every tone selector has a small Test button next to it that plays the tone immediately. Great for previewing before you commit to a setting.

What about timezones?

Alarms are local to your device's timezone (whatever your browser reports). Travelling? Your alarms automatically retime in the new zone because they're stored as wall-clock HH:MM, not as a UTC timestamp.

Are my alarms saved across devices?

No — they're stored in localStorage on this device only. Toollyz has no backend; nothing is synced. Set them up once per device.

Is this Alarm Clock free?

Completely free with no signup and no limits. Set as many alarms as you like — privately in your browser.
